The name of the cave is linked to fascinating legends. The first story dates back to the 13th century when Tran Hung Dao used wooden stakes to defeat the Mongol invaders in a famous naval battle. The remnants of the wooden stakes in the cave led to its name, Dau Go (Wooden Stakes Cave).

The name Dau Go Cave serves as a reminder of the glorious history of our nation during the wars to protect sovereignty. Another legend suggests that the name originates from the Dau Go Island range, where people took shelter from storms, and the cave was named accordingly for ease of identification.
